Transitioning to the World of Work: Information Session and Resource Fair for Youth with Disabilities

The OCDSB is hosting an information session and resource fair for secondary students with disabilities. This event will support students in understanding their rights, how to advocate for themselves, and what services can help them achieve their full potential in the workplace.

Date: Thursday, May 2, 2024
Time: 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
(Panel discussion: 5:30-7:00 p.m. Resource fair: 7:00-8:00 p.m.)
Location: Confederation Education Centre (1645 Woodroffe Avenue)

A panel of community organizations will discuss:

  • Employment skills and tips for job seekers
  • Accessing accommodations and supports
  • Disclosing a disability and advocating for yourself
  • Employee rights and responsibilities

Organizations and service providers will also have booths where students can find resources, ask questions, and get connected with community supports.

This event is open to all secondary students who are planning to graduate into the world of work and who identify as needing extra support in obtaining employment. Advance registration is not required.

This event is hosted by the OCDSB’s Transition Team in Learning Support Services (LSS). Learn more about transition supports at the OCDSB.
