The Start of An Amazing Journey: Registration Season Now Underway at the OCDSB

New this year: Students can register for new schools in Findlay Creek and Stittsville

Children and youth across Ottawa have the opportunity to begin an amazing journey. Registration season is now underway at the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB).

Kindergarten Registration

If a child turns four in 2024, they can now register for kindergarten at OCDSB schools for September.

This is an exciting time, and we know that families have lots of questions. To help, OCDSB elementary schools will be hosting kindergarten information nights in January and February to ensure parents and caregivers can visit the school, meet the incredible staff, and learn more about the kindergarten program.

What do kids love about Kindergarten? We asked the experts. Watch this video to learn more about what a few students had to say about Kindergarten:

High School Information Nights

Since December, OCDSB high schools have also been holding information sessions for students and families. Parents of students in grade 8 can check the secondary school websites for more information.

Why OCDSB?

The OCDSB is the largest school board in eastern Ontario. This means we are able to offer students more programs and opportunities as they learn, grow and prepare for the world beyond.

As a public school board, all students are welcome at the OCDSB, regardless of faith, race, language, gender or background. Every child starts kindergarten in the OCDSB’s bilingual French-English program. Families can then choose English or one of the French Immersion programs. In fact, many parents are surprised to discover we offer one of the largest French programs in Canada (outside of Quebec).

In high school, a number of possibilities await. Whether interested in science, skilled trades, arts or technology, students can take advantage of the OCDSB’s various programs and partnerships to find their future path.

OCDSB graduates are among the top scholars in Canada. No matter what career they choose, they are making breakthroughs, building, discovering, shaping this country and changing the world.

New Schools in Growing Communities

We are growing to meet your needs! New in 2024, students can register for school at the OCDSB’s new elementary school in Findlay Creek and high school in Stittsville. The opening of these brand new schools comes in addition to new elementary schools in Barrhaven (Wazoson Public School) and Fernbank (Shingwakons Public School).
