All Schools CLOSED to Students on Friday, Feb. 21, 2020

On Friday, February 21, 2020, all four education unions will engage in a province-wide strike.

This will include the Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) and Ontario Secondary School Teachers’ Federation (OSSTF), which represent employees with the Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB).

As a result, all OCDSB elementary and secondary schools will be closed to students on Friday, February 21.

This will include regular school day activities, night school, Adult High School, Ontario Youth Apprenticeship Program (OYAP), Co-op, Dual Credit, and home instruction as well as extra-curricular activities, field trips, clubs and testing activities planned for February 21.

Extended Day Programs operated by the OCDSB will also be cancelled. Parents are asked to confirm with third-party providers for details. All community use of school permits for February 21 will be cancelled.

OCDSB employees are represented by two unions across nine bargaining units. ETFO represents elementary teachers and occasional teachers; and the OSSTF represents secondary teachers, occasional teachers and support staff in all schools.

The OCDSB will continue to send updates regarding additional labour actions, which will affect schools. Parents are asked to monitor email, media, and school and district websites for updates. Further information can also be found on the OCDSB Labour Negotiations webpage.
