Update: Thank you so much to all of the students and parents/caregivers who participated in our 2024 Valuing Voices: Identity Matters Student Survey.
We are happy to share that we received 47,153 valid survey responses, for an overall participation rate of 61% of students from kindergarten to Grade 12. This is an increase of nearly 15% compared to our 2019-2020 student survey.
The insights gathered from this survey will play a critical role in shaping our understanding of student identity and school climate in schools across the OCDSB.
Moving forward, our Research, Evaluation and Analytics Department will work to analyze this data and help school staff apply the information we have gathered to better support school safety, learning and student well-being.
District-level results of our school climate can be found in this infographic, and identity-based data will be shared in the coming months. |
The
2024 Valuing Voices - Identity Matters Student Survey collects
information about our student population and their experiences at
school.
Your participation matters.
We want to better understand OCDSB students and support their learning, safety and well-being.
A
student’s identity can affect their experiences at school and whether
they feel safe, welcome and valued for who they are. Collecting this
information will allow us to better design programs and supports to
address issues including bullying, mental health and student
achievement.
The survey will have two parts:
- Demographic data: Including questions about language, Indigenous identity, ethnicity, race, faith/creed, gender, sexual orientation, and ability.
- School climate data: Including questions about feelings of safety, engagement and well-being
