We
are pleased to share that our EarlyON centres are offering a variety of
early learning programming options to meet your needs. This includes
indoor and outdoor by drop-in, as well as virtual, direct support, and
curbside options by appointment. You will see a variety of program types
in our calendars and they will vary by location. Please note that
drop-in playgroups are not yet available everyday. Visit EarlyON Family Resources to
view the monthly calendars, to connect directly with the Program
Facilitator at each school location as well as view recorded videos and
activity ideas. Please share your contact information with the Program
Facilitator to provide you updates in the event a playgroup is
cancelled.
Daily self screening is
still required prior to attending an EarlyON program. Please stay at
home if you are sick, even with mild symptoms to limit the transmission
of illnesses. Please read the OCDSB EarlyON updated health and safety measures that
will remain in our centres. Masks are strongly recommended to be worn
by participants aged 2 and up while visiting an EarlyON program. Masks
are not recommended for children under the age of 2.
There are Situations Where Masking is Required in School. As indicated on the Ottawa Public Health’s website,
wearing a mask is sometimes mandatory in public. Individuals are
required to continue to wear masks at school in the following
situations:
- Return from international travel: For
those exempted from quarantine, wearing a well-fitted mask in public
settings (including schools and childcare) is required for the first 14
days upon return to Canada from international travel, as per current federal travel requirements.
- After a COVID-19 infection: If
self-isolation is complete after 5 days, wearing a well-fitted mask in
public settings (including schools and childcare) is required for an
additional 5 days.
- If you are a close contact: If
self-isolation is required for 5 days, close contacts coming out of
isolation must wear a well-fitted mask in public settings (including
schools and childcare) for an additional 5 days. If self-isolation is
not required, close contacts must wear a well-fitted mask in public
settings (including schools and childcare) for 10 days.
Please review the Notice of Risk for child care and early years. We are following guidance provided by Ottawa Public Health Supporting Child Care and Early Years to provide a safe early learning environment for families and staff.
We will share program updates on this site as well as on OCDSB social media.

General Information
The
Ottawa-Carleton District School Board operates EarlyON Child and Family
Centres (formerly known as Parenting and Family Literacy Centres) in
eight elementary schools. The EarlyON Child and Family Centres offer
programs for families and their children from birth to age 6 that build
positive adult/child relationships, encourage children’s exploration
through play and inquiry and can facilitate community connections for
families. While at the Centre, families can:
- Discuss
with the program facilitator and share information about parenting,
child development, nutrition, play-based learning and other topics that
support the role of the parent/caregiver.
- Become familiar and build positive connections with the school
- Obtain information on community resources
- Access a multilingual book lending library
EarlyON locations:
Our centres are open to all families in Ontario.
We follow the school calendar and do not operate on PA days or holidays.
