Important Information

Your ongoing patience as we have been awaiting Operational Guidance and planning the reopening of the OCDSB Extended Day Programs across the district has been appreciated.  We understand the importance of these programs as they support  children and families in our communities.  The health and safety of children and staff continues to be our top priority.  Recently, the government announced next steps to support the healthy and safe reopening of schools, child care and early years programs across the province.

We are happy to share that, as of September 1, 2020, all before and after school programs will be permitted to operate at full capacity with the addition of new guidelines during a Covid-19 Outbreak. The ministry has updated the Before and After School Kindergarten to Grade 6 Policies and Guidelines to provide COVID-19 operational guidance and the City of Ottawa has begun to share the Health and Safety Guidelines for child care. In order to ensure that we are meeting the operational requirements we have developed a registration process that will be done in phases.

You will receive a new email in the coming days to let you know that registration for your child’s school is now open and you can indicate your schedule and complete the process.

Please note that if your child is transferring to a new school for the 2020/21 school year, please contact the Early Learning office at before completing your registration.  We will provide a new admission offer for the EDP at your child’s new school.

The phases of registration will be as follows:

Phase 1: All returning families who require care for 5-10 sessions per week at the school their child attends for the core day with a consistent schedule (same days each week) will be able to register.

Phase 2: All returning families who require care for 2-4 sessions per week at the school their child attends for the core day with a consistent schedule (same days each week) will be able to register.

Also all returning families who require flexible/erratic schedules or any other type of requests will be able to register.  Please note that any of these types of requests will, as in prior years, be reviewed and approved by the Early Learning Department before the registration can be completed.

Phase 3:  All new students will be able to register based on space availability in the Extended Day Program at their school.

Please note that if you choose not to register for the EDP at this time, you will be required to re-register at a later date. This may mean that your child will be placed on a waiting list. Please note that we cannot guarantee when a space will become available. Availability is based on the legislative operational requirements and on staffing availability.

Please note that the start date for the Extended Day Program will be Sept 3rd 2020 for children in Grades 1-6 and Sept 8th for children in Kindergarten.  The OCDSB will be using a staggered entry approach to the start of school and the Extended Day Program will follow the same schedule.  Children who are registered for EDP will be able to attend only on the days that they are attending school.  Your child will not be able to attend EDP on any days where he/she is not attending school and no full day care will be offered during the staggered entry period.  Billing days for the month of September will be adjusted based on the days of attendance so that families are billed only for the days their child attended during the staggered entry period.  The fees for the month of September will be withdrawn on October 1st 2020 to allow for the adjustment to the September fee.  Fees for the month of October 2020 will be withdrawn on October 15th 2020.  All subsequent fees will be withdrawn on the 1st business day of each month.

Please ensure you check your email as you will be notified via our Digibot e-registration platform when each phase of the registration process begins.

If your child is a student returning to the Extended Day Program, the parent portal to access your DIGIBOT account is located on the OCDSB website under Childcare, OCDSB Extended Day Programs and Existing Students tab.

If you have not activated your account please email, with your child’s full name and school they attend and someone will resend you the activation information.

If your child is new to the Extended Day Program, please ensure that you have completed a registration request via the New Student icon under the OCDSB Extended Day Program.

Thank you for your patience as we begin a new school year for the Extended Day Program.
