School districts operate on a fiscal year that runs from 01 September to 31 August. The District’s budget for the upcoming fiscal year must be approved by the Board before the end of June of the current year. To meet this timeline, a staff-recommended budget will be presented to the Committee of the Whole Budget (COW Budget) on 25 May 2022 and several meetings are scheduled to obtain comment from the public, to provide the Board with an opportunity to establish the District’s priorities and to refine the allocation of resources.
The tentative public meeting dates at which budget matters will be discussed are:
25 May 2022 Presentation of the staff-recommended budget
08 June 2022 Public delegations, budget debate commences
14 June 2022 Budget debate *
16 June 2022 Budget debate *
20 June 2022 Board approval *
* COW Budget may make it's recommendation at either the 14 June or the 16 June meeting. A special Board meeting may be held immediately following COW Budget’s recommendation.
